Cresapton, MD - July 15, 2003 - May 11, 2026

Mason Robert Alkire, 22, of Barton, Md., passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Stamford, Texas, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born on July 15, 2003, Mason grew up in Barton and graduated from the Allegany County Career and Technical School in 2021, where he studied his passion for welding. Following his education, Mason became a skilled heavy equipment operator.

His career allowed him to travel and see the country, working in Ohio, Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Texas. Mason took great pride in his work and loved learning how to run new machinery, often jokingly describing his workday as "being mean to the dirt" or "playing in dirt all day."

Mason was a young man of deep loyalties and simple pleasures. He loved his family fiercely and treasured every moment spent together, especially family gatherings, shared dinners and sitting around a campfire. He loved traveling in his camper and spending his free time working on his pick-up truck.

Mason was also an incredibly loyal friend; whether he was home in Maryland hanging out in person or traveling across the country, he stayed connected through video games and phone calls, keeping his friends close to his heart.

He is survived by his loving parents: his mother, Rhonda Alkire and partner Jason Mowbray of Cresaptown, Md.; and his father, Erick Alkire and wife Jen of Morrow, Ohio. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Rilee "Bella" Alkire, Liam Mowbray and Eoin Mowbray of Cresaptown, Md.; and Abby Alkire and Emi Alkire of Morrow, Ohio; as well as a large circle of extended family, close friends, and co-workers who will miss his bright spirit and sense of humor.

A celebration of Mason's life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Barton Town Park Pavilion starting at 1 p.m. Deacon Herald Bradley will provide a short memorial service at the start of the celebration. All family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the joy Mason brought to so many lives.
