Keyser, West Virginia - Melinda Chaney, 78, of Keyser, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Melinda was born on Oct. 12, 1943, in Keyser and was the daughter of the late James T. Watson and Wanda (Tasker) Watson.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Keyser and sang in the choir for many years.

Melinda was a 1961 graduate of Keyser High School, and her classmates meant a lot to her.

She worked as a beautician for over 40 years at various beauty shops in the Keyser area.

She loved spending time with her family, singing in the choir, cross-stitching and playing Bunco.

She served as president of Green Glade Club at Deep Creek Lake for several years and loved hosting the annual meeting.

She was a member of Limestone Homemakers.

Melinda is survived by two daughters, Susan Peck and partner, John George, of Wilmington, Del., and Debra Longstreth and husband, Kelly, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; a son, Charles J.(Marty) Chaney and wife, Robin, of Coushatta, La.; ten grandchildren, Steven Peck, Nicolas Longstreth, Christina Holiway, Dinah, Amanda, Joshua, Diana, Bobby, Amanda, and Brianna Chaney; nine great-grandchildren; her aunt, Martha Harris, of Seneca, S.C.; stepmother, Helga Watson, of Kihei, Hawaii; and many other close family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" R. Chaney, who died on Jan. 11, 1994; a brother, J.T Watson; two aunts; and one uncle.

The family will receive friends at Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 5 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Keyser, on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.

Interment will follow in Terra Alta Cemetery, Terra Alta, W.Va.
