Barton, MD - Melvin Wayne Colmer, 82, of Barton, Born March 2, 1943, passed away on May 19 2025.

He was the son of the late Wilmer and Louise (Vinci) Colmer. Melvin was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.

Melvin found his greatest joy being on the mountain, surrounded by the stillness and beauty of nature. He was a spitfire-strong willed, sharp, and never one to let somebody walk over him. He lived life on his own terms and was always true to who he was.

True to his nature, Melvin made the most of everything he had. If something worked- even barely- it was going anywhere. Whether it was a car, a pair of boots, or a favorite old shirt, he ran things until they couldn't go another mile.

He was deeply loved, and his strength, grit, and honesty will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family, his brother Kenneth Colmer of Michigan; his sister, Shirly Colmer of Barton; his children, Angela Colmer of Barton, Mark Colmer of Westernport; his stepson, Dylan of Barton; his great-grand children, Shyanne, Hannah, Hailey, Jase, Kenzley, and Korbyn; and his partner of 25 years, Sondra Miller.

His memory will continue in the stories shared around the kitchen tables, in quiet moments on the mountain, and in the hearts of those who knew him.
