Merdieth K. Diehl, 81, of Buffalo Mills, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at her home. She was born on Dec. 26, 1942, in Cresaptown, Md., a daughter of the late Frank and Caroline (Willison) Lease. On Aug. 22, 1960, in Corigansville, Md., she married Maynard D. Diehl who preceded her in death on March 26, 2020. She is survived by four children: Rodney Diehl and wife Barbara, of Bedford, Pa., Craig Diehl and wife Stacey, of Buffalo Mills, Pa., Angela Tomlinson and husband Curt, of LaVale, Md., and Dayna May and husband Steve, of Buffalo Mills, Pa.; ten grandchildren: Justin, Corey, Destinee, Tiffanee, Evan, Clint, Melissa, Chandler, Allissa, and Lacey; ten great-grandchildren: Anna Jay, McKenna, Braydon, Blade, Brody, Evelyn, Myles, Damen, Scarlett, and Novalee; and a brother, Frankie Lease and wife Chris, of Wellersburg, Pa. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Leo Lease, Dorothy Lydard, and Hattie McGowan.

Mert loved her family more than anything. Every holiday everyone gathered in the farm house that her and Maynard cherished. She loved to be in her kitchen baking, in her craft room creating the most gorgeous crafts, or just sipping a cup of hot tea and enjoying her beautiful home. To know her was to love her, and everyone did. She could make anyone laugh with her vivacious and spunky personality. Maynard was her soulmate for 59 years and together they built a legacy for their family to remember and cherish. Mert fought the good fight and she finished her race. She was welcomed into those pearly gates to a beautiful family reunion and to meet her Lord and Savior face to face.
