Michael Wayne Glotfelty (Mike) Obituary

McHenry, Maryland - Michael Wayne "Mike" Glotfelty, 60, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at home with his family by his side.

Mike fought a short, but courageous, battle with prostate cancer.

He was the son of William "Bill" and Donna Glotfelty, Grantsville, Md., born Aug. 19, 1965. Mike is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Olive Glotfelty, Ambrose and Olive Weimer; his father-in-law, James "Jim" Miller.

Mike graduated from Northern High School and owned Michael Glotfelty Construction for over 25 years, serving many customers in Cumberland, Oakland and McHenry. He took pride in his work, always wanting perfection. There are many homes that show his craftsmanship.

Mike is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 33 years, Dawn (Miller) Glotfelty. His pride and joy were his two children, son, Denver Scott (Alexis), Morgantown, W.Va., and daughter, Olivia Marie (fiancée, Bryson McClung), McHenry, Md. He loved that Alexis had become part of his life and was looking forward to the marriage of Olivia and Bryson in October 2026.

He is also survived by his siblings: brother, Tim (Kim) Glotfelty, Grantsville, sister, Deborah (Mike) Albright, Salisbury, Pa., brother, Barry (Cheryl) Glotfelty, Frostburg, Md.; nephews, Tim and Brandon Glotfelty, Gregory and Lee Albright, and Joshua Barnard; nieces, Lindsay Glotfelty and Jessica Ricker. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Josephine "Jo" Miller, McHenry.

Mike had two special people in his life who were like brothers, David Broadwater and David Lashbaugh; and so many other friends. He also leaves behind two furry friends, Diesel and Peanut, who will miss him very much.

Mike and Dawn enjoyed life to the fullest, always making sure their children's friends were welcome in their home. They are both excellent cooks and fed anyone who came to the house and provided many meals for the school teams. If there was a benefit ride, they were there to support friends or anyone in need.

Mike was a son, husband, dad and brother who always made sure they came first. The same can be said about being a friend and son-in-law.

He and Dawn loved riding their side-by-side on the weekend, and we are sure that is what he is doing now, but with no care or pain. Enjoy those beautiful skies.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family who stopped at the house to visit Mike. The stories, laughs and tears meant the world to the family.

"If you can't laugh with me while I am alive, don't cry for me when I am gone."

Thank you also for the love and compassion shown by Garrett County Hospice, Dr. Shannon, Garrett Cancer Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital (Morgantown, W.Va.) and Cumberland Cancer Center.

Mike requested to be cremated with no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
