Cumberland, MD - CUMBERLAND [mdash] Nancy Jean Welsh, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at UPMC-Western Maryland.

Born Sept. 20, 1943, in Cumberland, Nancy was the daughter of the late Derwood Wolford and Dorothy (Ley) Wolford Altice, and husband, Frank. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann Marriott, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Nancy was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, Class of 1960, and Nurse's Training at Mother Seton Hospital in Baltimore.

She retired from Maryland State at the Allegany County Health Department in Family Planning. Nancy was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish - The Shrine of SS. Peter and Paul, and of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Knights of Columbus #586, where she was very active in their Setback League, and enjoyed teaching it to her family. She was also a volunteer at St. Anthony Place.

For many years, Nancy and her husband, Ron, truly enjoyed traveling all over the USA and the world.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 59 years, 7 months, Ron Welsh; her son, Kevin Welsh, and wife, Debbie; her daughter, Kristi DeVore, and fiancé, Greg Smith; and her very special granddaughter, Megan Welsh, and fiancé, Kolby McCusker.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Mountains Parish - The Shrine of SS Peter and Paul on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at 10 a.m.
