Nina G. Rudy Obituary

Nina Garrett Rudy, 91, of Wardensville, W.Va., died on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Nina was born on April 24, 1933, in Wardensville, W.Va., the daughter of the late Paul P. and Edna Whetzel Garrett. She was happily married 40 years to Charles E. Rudy, who preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1991.

Nina was a member of the Wardensville United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, and a charter member of the Wardensville Rescue Squad as an EMT. She enjoyed working at the Kac-Ka-Pon Restaurant for 41 years. She often said, "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life!" She worked at the WVU Experimental Farm, the first woman in the poultry operation. Nina was an avid reader, who loved to travel both at home and abroad. She had a passion for flower gardening, their beauty enjoyed by many. Nina had a selfless nature, always placing others' needs before her own. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family who treasured her.

Surviving is a daughter, Donna Rudy Fisher (Bill) of Moorefield, W.Va., and their children, Beth Aliveto (Frank), Jessica Swank (Danny), Katie Faulkner (Matt); two sons, David Rudy (Theresa) of Wardensville, W.Va.; Daniel E. Rudy (Jo Ann) of Powell, Tenn., and their children, Lynanne Sexton (Charley), Natalie Cagle (Ronald), Emilie Robinson (Tyler); thirteen great-grandchildren, Haley, Riley, Shawn, Danica, Isabel, Mia, Molly, Clara, Caroline, Will, Paxton, Miles and Alexandra; her cat, Honey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Donald Garrett; and a sister, Earleen Garrett King; a very special niece, Mia Jo Rudy; and a special friend, Ray "Red" Funkhouser.

A celebration of Nina's life will be held at a later date. Please check back for service details.
