Bloomington, Maryland - Norman Ray "Bunk" Fitzgerald went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2025.

He was the son of the late Russell and Blanche (Lambert) Fitzgerald. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Russell, Paul, Bobby and Guy Fitzgerald; and his sisters, Linda Mock and Janet Martin.

Bunk served his country with the Army Reserves for nine years. He graduated with the class of 1959 from Bruce High School and he later, he completed college courses that pertained to his career at the paper mill. He retired from Westvaco as a Planner Supervisor in the Maintenance Department after 44 years of employment. He enjoyed reading his Bible, singing, and spending time with his family.

Bunk was a faithful lifetime member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport. He served as an active Deacon for over 47 years. He was a Sunday School director, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school, and served on various committees. Bunk also took pride in being a custodian after his retirement. He was choir director and worship leader for many years and brought praises to God singing solos. He will be remembered for singing gospel songs during many Tri-Towns events.

Bunk is survived by the love of his life, whom he was married to for 63 years, Carolyn "Peachie" (Riggleman) Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his daughter, Sonya Muhleman and husband Brian; his siblings, Richard Fitzgerald and Shirley Moore; and his companion kitty, "Tinkerbell". Bunk is also survived by his special nephews and godsons, Eric Lannon, Brad Riggleman and Blake Riggleman. Bunk had many nieces and nephews, and loved them as if they were his own children. He was also survived by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church of Westernport on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m., with Pastor Scott Llewellyn officiating.

Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

Pallbearers will be: Bernie Riggleman, Brian Muhleman, Blake Riggleman, Bill Kight, Jr., Eric Lannon, and Tom "Tuck" Martin.
