Russ was born on May 30, 1941, and grew up in Barnum W.Va. He graduated from Elk Garden High School in 1959. He was the son of the late Roy E. Hamilton and Sadie E. (Duckworth) Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Verna (Hamilton) Davis and Shirley (Hamilton) Wolf; and wife Lois A. (Mason) Hamilton.

Russ is survived by his daughter, Debra (Hamilton) Wheeler and her husband William Lee Wheeler III; his son, Timothy R. Hamilton and his wife Nanna M. Russ moved from West Virginia to Virginia in the 1960's. He started working in the carpet and flooring installation trade from which he started his own business in the 1970's. After the passing of his wife, he moved back to the West Virginia area and continued installing carpet and flooring until his retirement.

Russ loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Russ especially enjoyed night fishing along the riverbank. Russ liked to talk about his early years of hunting. He enjoyed rabbit hunting with his dog Rusty and enjoyed squirrel hunting. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with family and his friend Donna. He continued to enjoy the outdoors and fishing. He enjoyed watching old western movies and tv shows. While he no longer hunted, he enjoyed watching the wild animals in nature.

Russ was very loved by his family and friends, and will be missed.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Sunday, August 17th from 12 to 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Simmons officiating.
