Westernport, Maryland - Phyllis Darlene Bateson, 89, of Westernport, passed away on Feb. 1, 2025.
Born Nov. 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Fox) Kitzmiller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Don Bateson; her infant son, Don Jeffrey Bateson; and sister, Connie Sue Kitzmiller.
Phyllis enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She attended the Catherman's Business School and worked and retired from Frostburg State College as an administrative assistant.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Terri Boggs and husband Kenny of LaVale, Jay Bateson and wife Jami of Short Gap, W.Va., Toby Timney and husband Thomas of Mountain Lake Park; and her special sisters, Libby Shoulders of Morgantown, W.Va. and Mary Jo Levin of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob Layton and wife Heather, Audriana Boggs, Jill Bateson, Jordan Bateson and wife Sabrina, Whitney Bateson, and Cody Brill and wife Macy; and her great-grandchildren, Esther, Lilia, Bryson, Morgan and Atticus.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m., with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating.
Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice in honor of Phyllis.
