Raymond Verl Drew Obituary

Raymond Verl Drew, 86, of Little Run Road, Midlothian, passed away at home on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter by his side. Born on Nov. 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Ernest Drew and Zella Elizabeth (Negley) Drew.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Eileen (Crowe) Drew; and four siblings, David Edward Drew, Wayne Drew, Aleda Mae (Drew) Sevinsky and Sharon (Drew) Femi.

Raymond had worked for Carpenter's Egg Plant, Frostburg, and then several coal and trucking companies. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing and he took great pride in his yard. He was Pentecostal by faith.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 20 years, Jon Ann (Kaisner) Drew and her son, Brandon Scott; his daughter, Mary Beth Johnson, and husband, David "Henny"; granddaughter, Rachel Marie Greig and husband, Joel and their son, Ray's first great-grandchild, Dean, and soon to be born great-granddaughter, Claire; and his "Saturday morning breakfast date", best bub and caregiver, granddaughter, Sarah Beth Johnson and her significant other, Jimmy Ritchie and his daughter, Sophia.

He is also survived by his last surviving sibling, brother, Ernest Drew, and wife, Gail. Ray leaves behind his lifelong best friend and brother, Jim Keister; fellow laborer, Billy Hughes; and friends, Billy Koppel and wife, Diana, who worked hard to keep Ray in a steady supply of pineapple upside down cake!

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Brother John Thomas officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Internment will be held at Saint Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Midland.

The family gives a special thank you to his charming sitter, Jennifer Robertson; his home healthcare nurse, Tyler DeVore; and Hospice's, Carrie.

"We didn't get a happy ending, but we got a magical beginning, and a sparkling middle, and for me that was enough."
