Rebecca Lynn Murphy

Rebecca Lynn (Ashenfelter) Murphy, 64, of Louisville, Ky., and previously of Cumberland, passed away Aug. 21, 2019, at her home.
Born in Cumberland on Dec. 17, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Ashenfelter and Thelma L. (Evans) Ashenfelter.
Rebecca is survived by daughter, Miranda Murphy and her special friend, Bryan Smith, of Kentucky; stepchildren, Daniel (Lee Ann) Murphy, Danielle (PJ) Murphy, Candace Murphy and their children; sisters, Georgette and George Smith, Edna and Gary Wright; brother, Robert Ashenfelter; best friends, Kathy Hefner, and Ben Nicol; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Becky worked various jobs in Meyersdale, Pa., and Cumberland before she moved to Louisville in 1994, there she worked at AEC and raised her beautiful daughter.
She was Methodist in faith and grew closer to the Lord in her later years. Becky loved her daughter, fur grandbabies, and family! She loved to blow bubbles with the children and she crocheted all the time; making numerous baby afghans and adult size ones. She loved the song "This Little Light of Mine."
Her passing leaves a pain in our heart, but a smile on our face knowing she is reunited with mom and dad. We will miss her smile and quiet sense of humor. "Shine bright our special little light."
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, 14300 Uhl Highway, Cumberland. People are invited to arrive an hour early to pay respects to the family.
