Oldtown, MD - Reta P. Robey, 90, of Oldtown, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family May 29, 2026, at UPMC Western Maryland.
She was born May 6, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., to the late Edward and Evelyn (Farris) Peer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Joe" Kirk Robey; a granddaughter, Amber L. Wilson; all three of her siblings, Vivian, Hester and Eloise; and son-in-law, Randy Shaffer.
Reta graduated from Fort Hill High School, and then began a very full life of taking care of her loved ones. After her mother passed in 1986, she took over ownership and operation of Peer's Tavern in Oldtown, which also served as her family's homeplace. She loved her flowers, hummingbirds and crocheting.
She is survived by her six children, Mark E. Robey and wife Terry, Donna Shaffer, Rebecca Covey and husband Tom, Joseph Robey Sr., Eva Mae Wilson and Danny Robey; 10 grandchildren, Angie Knight (Jeff), Sarah Dolan, Robert Wilson, Larry Hook, Katelyn Brashear (Jared), Sierra Covey, Terri Robey (Chris), Joseph "JR" Robey Jr. (Ashley), Michael Robey and Timothy Robey; 16 great-grandchildren; a very large extended family; and her beloved dog, Sammy.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Riggleman officiating.
Interment will be with her husband in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Spring Gap, Md.
