The Rev. Edward C. Allen , 94, of Durant, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018.

Born Jan. 3, 1924, in Greenspring, W.Va., he was preceded in death by his first wife, Leonora Allen. He was the last surviving member of his siblings.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, and was a licensed machinist for B&O Railroad and Allegany Ballistic Laboratory. At 43 he was called into ministry, and pastored churches in Paw Paw, W.Va., Centerville, Va., Emporia, Va., and Hagerstown. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Allen; children, Cheryl A. Sachs (Doug), Martinsburg, W.Va., and Edward C. Allen Jr. (Carole), Easton; step-children, Darlene Anderson (Gary), Boswell, Pa., Richard Kohler (Kathy), Greenville, S.C., Ricky Johnson (Debbie), Bonnie R. McDaniel, Melody Roach (Jamie), Keith Johnson (Nikki), and Wayne Johnson, all of Plant City, Fla.; grandchildren, Krista Lepp (Brad), Orlando, Paul Goggin (Morria) of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Taylor Nail, Easton, Nick Lepp and Kameryn Lepp, both of Orlando; and many loving step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 S. County Road 39, Plant City, Fla., on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to services.

Committal with military honors will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
