Cumberland, MD - CUMBERLAND [mdash] Ricardo Alfredo Tadle, 93, of Cumberland, passed away on June 14, 2026, at UPMC-Western Maryland.

Born September 19, 1932, Canal Zone, Panama, he was the son of the late Cecilio Tadle and Maria Louisa (Garcia) Tadle.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecilia Bowdoin and Leida Adkins; stepdaughter, Brenda Adams; and first wife, Cecilia Ojeda.

Ricardo was a bright young kid, punctual in school and a true leader. He received his Eagle Scout as part of the Boy Scouts of America in Panama, and he also played Little League Baseball on a team sponsored by the Boston Red Sox when the family moved to Rhode Island.

While in Rhode Island, he joined the American Legion and was part of their Marching Band. After the family moved to Washington D.C., he enlisted into the US Army and went to boot camp in California. There, he married his first wife, Cecilia, and after boot camp served during the Korean Conflict. After completing his Army Service as part of a Medic Team, he was accepted into the Carpenters Apprenticeship program.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #1590 and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Local #197. He had a passion for woodwork as a Boy Scout and carried that passion into his carpentry profession. He worked on many varied projects within the DC- Maryland -Virginia area.

In September 1983, Rick married Opal Abe. He moved from the D.C. area to Cumberland where he loved the mountain community.

He was called the "Hot Dog Man" as he gladly cooked hot dogs for the Patriots and the Raiders. Ricardo was known for his famous sauce that was served at local concession stands. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, including with the Second Baptist Church Basketball program.

He is survived by his wife, Opal (Abe) Tadle; children, Elena Snyder and husband, Michael; Emily Raines; Elva Ferguson and husband, Keith; Elizabeth Black and husband, Michael; Ricardo Tadle II and wife, Christine; Ronald Tadle and wife, Susan; step-children, Vickie Bierman and husband, Ronald; and Donald Adams; siblings, Ezequiel (Tony) Tadle, and wife, Evelyn ; Maria Herring; and Francisco Tadle, and wife, Mary; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A service will be held in the Chapel at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Troy Knippenberg, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
