Hagerstown, Maryland - HAGERSTOWN [mdash] Richard Allen Young, 81, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Doey's House.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1941, to the late Donald William Young and Phyllis Tucker Young.

Richard was a 1959 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1965. Richard was a hard worker. His first job after leaving the Army was driving a race car, and he continued working until he was 75 years old; most of his jobs centering around driving.

Some of Richard's favorite things were reading, NASCAR, collecting eagles and pens, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Elsie Young; his stepfather, Jim Rohrer; his sister, Donna Birch; and his brother, Donald Seelock.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Alice Marie Young; his children, Patty Diane Smith, Elsie Marie Young, Susan Renee Black, Richard Allen Loudin and his wife, Lindsay, Donald Adam Loudin, Rebecca Lynn Scales, Thomas Robert Lee and his wife, Laurie, and Stephen Christopher Lee; twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; his sisters, Dianna Riveria and Rebecca Reel, and her husband, Frank, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcomed for a celebration of life on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Greenbriar Baptist Church, 20810 National Pike in Boonsboro.
