Rickie Edward Powell, 66, of Lower Georges Creek Road, Lonaconing, passed peacefully at his residence on Sunday, March 31, 2024, after a very brief bout of cancer. Born on Aug. 14, 1957, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Billy Junior Powell Sr. and Anna Lee (Henry) Powell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a special aunt, Betty Powell; and a nephew, Adam Thomas.

Rickie is survived by his siblings, Billy Powell (Susan), Scott Powell, Richard Henry and Tracy Thomas; nieces and nephew, Shanna Powell, Jesse Powell (Brittany), Lydia Powell, Sadie Powell and Codi Sines (Josh); great-niece and great-nephew, Isabell Peirce and Easton Sines; and special cousin, Mollie Lawrence (Marc) and their children, Madison and Maxwell.

A tradition that started by his late father and continued with his brother, Billy, Ricky enjoyed Sunday rides and lunch. During Rick's entire life he was a staple at the family gas station and parts store, leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets quietly taking everything in. Within the family his daily presence was a steady, reliable fixture and he will be truly and surely missed. The family wants to extend a grateful thank you to all the customers over the years who would take the time to try and engage and acknowledge Rick.

Services will be privately held at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, and interment will take place at Frostburg Memorial Park.

A special expression of appreciation from the family goes out to UPMC-Western Maryland Hospice for the care given to Rickie during his time at home. Also, the entire family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Rickie's caregiver, Charlotte Lippold, who has watched over and taken such good care of him for the past few years.
