Mercersburg, PA - MERCERSBURG, Pa. [mdash] Robert Joseph Acre, 72, passed away on Dec. 25, 2025, in Mercersburg.

Born March 24, 1953, Robert dedicated much of his life to his career as a machinist, notably at Grove and Mack Truck, and later served as a warehouse technician at Comcast, and a school bus driver for both Fannett-Metal and Tuscarora School Districts in Franklin County.

Robert graduated from Fort Hill High School, in Cumberland, Maryland. He was active with Cub Scouts for many years.

His passion for the National Hot Rod Association races, working on cars, and building racing motors marked his spare time, sharing this joy with friends and family who will remember his skilled hands and spirited enthusiasm.

He leaves behind his wife, Vida Acre; his children, Melissa Atherton (Kevin) and Jonathan Acre; his stepchildren, Leigh Anne Dixon (David) and Christopher Cerrone (Ame Guy); grandson, Connor Dixon; sister, Cathy Moorehead (David); sister, Susie Alkire (James Zane); and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Acre and Mary Strunz Fisher; his first wife, Denise Acre; and grandson, Patrick Dixon.

A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at the Mercersburg United Methodist Church, on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.

His life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his work and his hobbies, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
