Robert "Bob" Allen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born on Nov. 1, 1937, near Webster Springs, W.Va., to Batton and Thelma "Sally" Allen.

Bob graduated from Webster Springs High School in 1955 and from Alderson Broaddus University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He received a Master's Degree in Social Work at West Virginia University in 1969.

Bob married Nancy Lou Warren of Logan, W.Va. in 1961. Their son, Scott, was born here in Romney, W.Va., on July 4, 1962. Scott passed away in 2000, three years following a heart transplant. In addition to Scott, Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy.

Bob spent the majority of his professional career working with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and Mental Health in Cumberland, Md., retiring after 32 years of service. He then immediately accepted employment with the West Virginia School for the Blind, where he worked for five years as Director of Student Living until his resignation.

Bob was quite fond of the outdoors and sports, which included hunting, fishing, baseball, football, basketball (especially WVU), golf, and fly tying. He was also very involved and supportive of the Romney Presbyterian Church.

Bob is survived by his sister-in-law, Cynthia Winter and husband, Curt of Midlothian, Va.; three nephews, Seth Winter and wife, Heather of Richmond, Va., Luke Winter and wife, Pam of Chesapeake, Va., and Matt Winter and wife, Jessie of Waynesboro, Va.

There will be a Christian Memorial Service at the Romney Presbyterian Church, officiated by Pastor Rob Vaughan at a later date.

At his request, Bob will be cremated and his ashes will be interred along with Nancy's beside their son, Scott, at the family gravesite at a private service at Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney, W.Va.
