KEYSER, W.Va. - Robert C. "Bobby" or "Red" Lyon, 67, of HC 72, Box 142, Keyser, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, after a courageous 19 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born on Jan. 16, 1944, at New Creek, W.Va., he was a son of the late David and Dorothy Mae (Fleming) Lyon. He also was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Eldridge and Wilda (Dolly) Kesner. Bobby was retired from the VEPCO Mount Storm Power Plant as an electrician with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Lehigh Rod and Gun Club and had served his country in the National Guard with the 201st Field Artillery, Battery "C", Keyser. His most enjoyable hobby was restoring Honda 90's trail bikes and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an active member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, where he held many offices until his failing health forced him to stay at home. Bobby leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 43 years, Phyllis A. (Kesner) Lyon; a sister, Dottie Lyon, of Keyser; two brothers, Billy Lyon, of Keyser and Roger Lyon and wife Janice, of New Creek; brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Kesner and wife Dotty and sister-in-law, Karen Kesner, all of Keyser; his nieces and nephews which were his special "kids," Elaine Lyon, Michael Lyon, David Lyon and wife Jill and their son, Foster, Jennifer Strauss and husband Michael and their daughter, Makena, Craig Kesner and wife Trina, Kirk Kesner and fiancee Danielle Fink, Danielle Kesner, Whitney Kes-ner, Brian Kesner and wife Tracy and their children, Alexis, Curtis and Kaelyn. Also surviving is a special family, Tom and Erin (Kalbaugh) Heise and their daughters, Sophia and Claire. All of these kids put a twinkle in his eyes and a smile on his face. Those were his special kids along with Precious, Princess and Pasha. Bobby will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew him and for his warm smile. He will be especially missed by his wife Phyllis, but her loss is Heaven's gain. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Randy Shoemaker officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, W.Va. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or to the Janet C. Kalbaugh Scholarship Fund at Keyser High School, One Tornado Way, Keyser, WV 26726.
