Robert "Bob" Andrew Brodie, Sr., 83, of 60 East Main Street, Lonaconing, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at his residence. Born on Sept. 19, 1940, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Robert M. Brodie and Erma (Hutcheson) Brodie.
Together with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Harry M. and Anna T. Beeman. On May 25th of this year, he lost his son, Robert Andrew Brodie Jr.
A graduate of the 1958 class of Valley High School, he went on to work for Orrie Contracting, LaVale, for over 25 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving in the Military Police unit.
Bob was a 2-time Past Master and 50-year member of Queen City Lodge #131 A.F & A.M., Cumberland. He served his community as Lonaconing Town Clerk, was the first President of the Georges Creek Ambulance Service, and also served in the Goodwill Fire Company. Prior to his illness, he loved taking walks throughout the town and never missed a game of his beloved Baltimore Orioles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karina Brodie. Together they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this December. He is also survived by two sons, William C. Brodie and James E. Brodie; a daughter-in-law, Mary Frances Brodie; and his grand dog, Lucy.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. Queen City Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M., Cumberland, will hold a memorial service at 3 p.m. A funeral service will follow, at 4 p.m., with Pastor David Schoch officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, and military rites will be accorded by Combined Honor Guard, Fort Cumberland Post #13.
