Robert Ervin Davis Sr., 87, of Oakland, passed away on Feb. 14, 2023, at his home.

Born on Jan. 26, 1936, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Maude (Brown) Davis.

Robert served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the New Life Christian Church. He worked for Browning's Foodland as a meat cutter. He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Robert E. Davis Jr.; seven grandchildren, Joni Davis, Joseph Capps and wife, Kristin, Angel Sullivan Campbell and husband, Jason, Terri McRobie and husband, Adam, Ashley Crosby and husband, Luke, Justina Johnson and husband, Joseph, and Alex McRobie and wife, Suzanne; 12 great-grandchildren, Brady Alexander, Bryson Alexander, Wyatt Alexander, Gabe Hartzog, Jessica Lee and husband Cody, Jayden Capps, Kolby Capps, Evangilene Martiz, Madison Tasker, Isaiah McRobie, Zuri Shipley, and Emmett McRobie; three great-great-grandchildren; seven siblings, William Davis and wife, Shirley, Susan Steyer and husband, Ray, Mildred Rice, Joyce Livingood and husband, Dave, Helen Marley and husband, Richard, Geraldine Harding, and Nancy Branham and husband, Larry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Virginia (Wilt) Davis; nine siblings, Roy "Burt" Davis, Arthur "Elwood" Davis, Edwin "Jr." Davis, Gary Davis, Donald Davis, Jim Davis, Mary Calcamp, Patricia Meyers, and John Davis.

Friends will be received on Friday, Feb.17, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor Roger Kitzmiller officiating, at which time military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 and the Deer Park VFW Post 10077.
