Cumberland, MD - Robert A. Grant, 82, of Cumberland, passed away at Western Maryland hospital

on the morning of Nov. 6, 2025.

Born in Cumberland in 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Grant and the late Pearl Marie Linn Grant.

Robert graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1961 and Frostburg State University in 1965 with a

degree in mathematics.

Mr. Grant taught mathematics at Fort Hill, where he also enjoyed coaching football. He remained a steadfast Fort Hill football fan his entire life, serving as a scout, then as the announcer during home games, and finally listening to and watching the games online.

Bob was also an avid poker player, winning a seat at the World Series of Poker tournament. Upon retirement, Bob enjoyed working on his farm and taking care of his cows.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy Grant; and his sister, Sonjie Wilson. He is survived by his three children, Natalie Zimmerman, Brian Grant and Pamela Johnston; two sons-in-law, Richard Zimmerman and Richard Johnston; five grandchildren, Justin Zimmerman and spouse Kirsten, Brianne Firth and spouse Michael, Samantha Zanolini and spouse Jeremy, Brian Robert Grant and Lauren Johnston; as well as three great-grandchildren, Anna and Danielle Firth and Miles Zanolini.

Per his request, he will be cremated, and services will be private.
