Ridgeley, WV - RIDGELEY, W.Va. [mdash] Roger Dale Cowgill, Sr., 77, of Ridgeley, died June 6, 2026, at home.
Born January 3, 1949, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Roy Sylvester Cowgill and Beneda Esther (Keplinger) Cowgill.
Roger served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1973, and worked at various places, including VanMeter Construction and UMPC-Western Maryland.
Roger was a life member of Gold Star Post #6452, V.F.W.; William E. Shuck, Jr. Memorial Post 136, American Legion; Cumberland Outdoor Club; and the Good Fellowship Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Retha May (Miller) Cowgill; one son, Roger D. Cowgill Jr., and wife, Jennifer; two grandchildren, Zackery and Whitney; dear cousin, Linda Knipple, and husband, Dick; sister-in-law, Carolyn Clites; and special friend, Cookie.
A committal service will be conducted in the chapel at MSVC-Rock Gap, on Thursday, June 18, at 2 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
