Cumberland, Maryland - Roger D. Williamson, 77, of Cumberland, Md., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Roger was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Crum, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, three brothers and a sister. He was married to Debbi (Smith) Williamson for just under 28 years, before she passed away last summer.

Roger and Debbi shared a life filled with love and united by a zest for music and travel. They performed throughout the community often and attended as many music venues as possible. Roger composed a Christmas cantata and wrote and recorded the song "Christmastime in Cumberland," which continues to be played on the radio every year.

Roger attended the West Virginia School for the Blind and earned his degree from Marshall University in 1976. He was a rehabilitation specialist at Blind Industries in Cumberland. Over the years, he was an active member of the Lions Club and enjoyed bowling.

Roger had a love of gardening and took pride in mowing his own lawn for many years, despite having limited vision. A devoted sports fan, he was often found listening to baseball games with his headphones on — his favorite team being the Cincinnati Reds — and oh, how he loved University of Kentucky basketball!

Roger will be deeply missed by his remaining family and lifelong friends. May he rest in peace.
