Keyser, WV - Ronald E. "Ronnie" or "Popsicle" Loy, 62, of Hollywood Road, Keyser, W.Va., passed away peacefully at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Born on February 4, 1963 in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of Eva E. "Pat" (Cook) Loy of Keyser and the late Ronald C. "Blackie" Loy. He also was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carol Davis in 2012 and two aunts, Verda Bradford and Mary Cook.
In 1981, Ronnie graduated from Keyser High School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Ronnie worked diligently as a truck mechanic for many years. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence were a testament to his character.
Ronnie was a devoted member of the Second Baptist Church in Keyser, W.Va. In a significant turning point in his life, Ronnie gave his life to God. His spiritual journey transformed him and, through God's grace, allowed him to return to his family with newfound faith and purpose.
In addition to his mother, Ronnie is survived by his children, Dustin T. Loy and fiancee, Christina Kesner of Keyser, Cary Jo Miller of Keyser, Nikki Crites and husband Daniel of Morgantown, Ronald Loy of Upper Tract, W.Va, and Destiney Davis of Keyser; grandchildren, Chevy Loy, Kory and Kody Miller and Gabbie Crites and a great grandson, Konnor Miller. Also surviving is his brother, Eric Loy and wife Amanda of Keyser; a sister, Rhonda Wilt of Keyser; a nephew who was reared with Ronnie as a brother, Billy Keller and wife Heather of Keyser and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Justin Daugherty officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
Ronnie's life was a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and love. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life of a man who truly made a difference in the lives of many.
