LaVale, Maryland - Ronald "Ronnie" Harry Kay Proud, 93, of LaVale, Md., passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was an angel on Earth and is now watching down over us all.

Born Aug. 10, 1932, in LaVale, Md., Mr. Proud was the son of the late Russell Proud and Edna (Klosterman) Proud Wagner and husband Clarence Wagner. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty L. (Short) Proud; a son, Brian Proud; a stepson, Paul A. Goetz; and his brother, Jerry Proud.

Ronnie graduated from LaSalle High School in 1951 and then served in the United States Navy (Seabees). He retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Co. as a curing room supervisor. After his retirement, he worked several years for Allegany County Transit.

Ronnie was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Shrine, and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #586. He was also a member of the Queen City Travelers Camping Club, the Quad State Bodgers Woodturning Club, and he also enjoyed square dancing.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda (Barnhart) Goetz Proud; a daughter, Diana Kay Oster (Steve); a son, Larry Proud (Cindy); a stepdaughter, Julie McCormick (Kevin); a sister, Linda (Wagner) Potanka; as well as his grandchildren, Greg Oster (Leah), Todd Oster (Tosha), Shannae Vickory (Sam) and Heather Ritter (Chris); his step-grandchildren, Dustin Hamilton and Destinie Smith; and numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, the Shrine of Saints Peter and Paul, 125 Fayette St., Cumberland, MD, on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10 a.m., with Father Mark Carter, OFM, Cap, as celebrant. The Knights of Columbus Council #586 will recite the Rosary at 3:45 p.m.

Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
