Frostburg, MD - Ronald Craig Shumaker, 62, of Frostburg, Md., died Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his residence after a courageous 22 year battle with MEN Type 1 Cancer.
Born January 19, 1963, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Jean (Fleigle) Shumaker, Cumberland and the late Wayne Shumaker. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Mary Rice.
Mr. Shumaker was a pipeline x-ray technician for Jan-X, New Jersey and over a 35 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was also a member of the NRA and an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Ron was a simple man with a big heart. His family meant everything to him and was exceptionally proud of his kids and grandkids.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Terry Ann (Rice) Shumaker, whom he married May 17, 1986; one son, Shay (fiancée, Kaylee) Shumaker, Frostburg; one daughter, Alexandria (Hunter) Broadwater, Swanton; one sister, Debi Shumaker, Deer Park; two grandsons, Dax and Broc Broadwater; he also enjoyed spending time with his son's dog, Ruger.
At his request he will be cremated and no services are planned.
Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md., is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
