Roseann M. Messer Obituary

Gormania, WV - Roseann M. Messer, 98, of Gormania, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, Md.

Born Aug. 13, 1927, in Gormania, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Fannie Mae (Bosley) Baer. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harrison Baer; three sisters, Inez Hare, Bernice Thomas and Ethel Victor.

Ms. Messer worked for The American Red Cross, Washington, D.C., for three years and then was an office clerk for H.P. Stores for 35 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, walking and playing bingo.

She is survived by one son, John Andrew "Andy" (Debbie) Messer, Hedgesville, W.Va.; "adopted" daughter, Lila (Rick) Curry, Gormania; two grandsons, Brian (Brandy) Messer and Mark (Shannon) Messer; four great-grandchildren, Julie Messer, Kurt Messer, Molly Messer and Abby Messer.

The family would like to thank Dr. Porter and the ICU unit at Garrett Regional Medical Center and the staff of Cortland Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care provided.

At her request, her body was donated to W.V. Human Gifts Registry.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jack Palzer officiating.
