Clear Spring, MD - Roy Raymond Delawder, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on March 2, 2026, at Doey's House Hospice in Hagerstown, Md.

Born on Oct. 13, 1945, in Cumberland, Roy was the son of the late Columbus C. and Georgia (Arbutus) Delawder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Ginger) Delawder; his son, Matthew Raymond Delawder; brothers, Marvin C. Delawder and Norman A. Delawder; sister, Helen D. Middleton; and sister-in-law, Edye Zembower.

Roy was a graduate of Oldtown High School, Class of 1963. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. After the U.S. Navy, Roy graduated from Frostburg State College in 1972. In 1968, Roy joined the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. until its closing in 1987. Roy then moved to Fairfax, Va., and worked until 2009, before moving to Clear Spring, Md. Roy enjoyed woodworking, helping others and spending time with family.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Colleen Delawder and partner Bob Matthews, Herndon, Va.; brother Ray W. Delawder and wife Martha, Potomac Park, Md.; brother-in-law, Douglas W. Harman and wife Constance, Petersburg, Va.; and sisters-in-law, Kay Delawder and Janet Hammond, Moorefield, W.Va. Roy is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Roy was a member of several churches, where he participated and held various duties. While a member of Pender United Methodist Church, Roy went on mission trips to Peru and several other locations from 2009 to 2019.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, MD. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kenny Newsome officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Keith Funkhouser, Paul Wilson, Dan Slider, Brian Funkhouser, Bob Matthews and Bryan Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Schade, Gene Slider and Robbie Slider.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Roy's memory do so by making contributions to the Spring Gap Community Cemetery (Mount Tabor Cemetery) Fund, Robert Slider, c/o Spring Gap Community Cemetery, 15321 Brice Hollow Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
