Rawlings, MD - Russell Andrew "Andy" VanMeter, 49, of Rawlings, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born Oct. 10, 1975, in Cumberland, he was the son of Sandra (Cavey) VanMeter and the late Russell James "Russ" VanMeter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Helen Cavey and Deloras VanMeter Ketterman; his uncle, Larry VanMeter; and his nephew, Kody.

Andy was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and the Career Center.

Andy was a jack of all trades. He loved spending time with his beloved dog, Sage, and going to wing nights with his "girls," of whom he couldn't be more proud.

Andy loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club and participated in the Youth Hunter Education Program. He was always hanging out at the Bloss Guns Shop. Andy enjoyed his hunting trips to Ohio with his buddies.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Andy knew he was the type of guy to always be available to help and give you the shirt off his back.

In addition to his mother, Andy is survived by his daughters, Kiana, Kaylee and Kaitlin Daniels and their four-legged sister, Sage; siblings, Amy May and husband, J.D., and Brian VanMeter and wife, Jenny; nieces and nephews, Kara Hotchkiss and her dog, Kiwi, Tyler Hotchkiss and wife, Brittany, Brandi Snyder and Hunter, Logan and Bronson VanMeter; great-nieces and great-nephews, Hoyt, Maycie, Jamey and Josie and too many wonderful friends to list.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.

Friends were be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Sherri Ziler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Cumberland Outdoor Club Youth Hunter Education Program, 31 Thomas St., Cumberland, MD 21502 or the Holding Hands for Haley Foundation, P.O. Box 1863, Cumberland, MD 21502 in honor of Andy's memory.
