Chesaptown, MD - Gable, Shelby Jean, 87, Cresaptown, passed Oct. 27, 2025. Born Sept. 1, 1938, to the late Edward and Sara (Custer) Thomas. She is also preceded in death by son, Jeffery Clites; sisters, Eleanor Stair and Roberta Boland.

Shelby is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John Gable. She is also survived by children, Marilyn Rowley and Shane Clites (Denna Beagle); stepchildren, Paul Clites, Johnny Raven; grandchildren, Jason Clites (Cheryl Buck), Marcus, Blake Rowley (Jade D'Atri) and Chance Rowley, and Jessica Clites; great-grandchildren, Achilles Rowley, Gianna Williams, Videl Rowley; sisters, Dolly Brown and Leetta Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shelby loved baking cakes and catering for weddings and anniversaries. Through her love of baking and catering, she has touched thousands of people's lives — whether through wedding receptions or birthday parties, local government office parties and other celebrations, even doing second-generation weddings for the children of families who had been served by Shelby and her Gable's Catering staff of family and friends. She also loved shopping and collecting dolls and was a member of the Hyndman Senior Citizens. She also really enjoyed her family time.

Family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Nov. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, PA 15545. Pastor Terry Campbell will be officiating.
