Shelby (Witt) Lough
Shelby (Witt) Lough, 82, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 12, 1937, in Cumberland, Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, Roy E. and Iva (Shears) Witt; and her stepfather, Vincent H. Fleegle.
Shelby was a 1955 graduate of Allegany High School. She participated in many activities at Allegany, and was Miss Allegewi in 1954 and 1955.
After school, Shelby worked at Cumberland and Allegany Gas Company before moving to Florida. While living in Florida, she worked at Florida Telephone as an operator. Upon return to Cumberland, she worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and First National Bank and Trust Company of Western Maryland.
She enjoyed staying at home as a mother with her two sons, Kurt and Jimmy. Shelby loved working in her yard, going swimming with her sons and friends, and taking her boys to their baseball games.
Shelby then went to work at Kelco Credit Union until retirement after 23 years. After Kelco, she worked part-time at the Imaging Center.
Shelby was very fond of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games, and discussed the highlights with Jimmy. She also enjoyed going out of town shopping with friends.
Shelby was blessed with two wonderful grandchildren, Derek and Maddie Lough; and a great-granddaughter, Maleah Lough. She took Derek to his baseball games from age six to 15, and was very proud of him. She loved to play and take walks with Maddie and holding Maleah, her "precious angels."
A member of Grace Memorial Community Church since 1979, Ms. Lough served on several committees and sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed worshiping God with her church family, who were always there for her.
Ms. Lough is survived by two sons, Kurt F. Lough, Cumberland, and James D. Lough and wife, Mary, LaVale; two grandchildren, Derek Lough and wife, Samantha, Cumberland, and Madeleine Lough, LaVale; and one great-granddaughter, Maleah Lough, Cumberland. She had several cousins, including one special cousin, Rita Hardy, who was like a sister.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy., SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce McBride officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
