Davidsville, Pennsylvania - Shirley Ann Bittner, 88, formerly of Cumberland, Md., passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025.

Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1936, Shirley was the daughter of the late Viola Emma (Burkholder) Steele and William Davis Steele. She is also proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Ray Bittner, Sr. and sister, Hilda Loretta Keefer and husband, Elmer L Keefer of Cumberland, Md.

Shirley was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1954, worked at Super Shoes for 12 years, worked as a nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital, and retired in 1996. She also worked as a private sitter. Shirley was a devoted member of the Central Assembly of God Church where she found community and spiritual fulfillment. She cherished time spent with her family, often finding joy in simple moments and creating lasting memories with her loved ones, especially delighted in hosting holidays and family picnics, bringing everyone together around her table or out beneath the open sky. These gatherings were filled with laughter, delicious food, and the warmth of her generous hospitality-occasions her family will forever treasure. She also enjoyed gardening and tending flowers. She found solace and inspiration in her garden. In her later years, Shirley made the heartfelt decision to move closer to her daughter, cherishing the gift of being present for milestones, celebrations, and quiet evenings alike.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Ray Bittner, Jr. and Gary D. Bittner and wife, Pam; and daughter, Sabrina (Bittner) Gross and husband, Robert. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Shirley's compassion touched many lives, and her legacy will be fondly remembered.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Eric Leasure officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery in Twin Churches, Pa.
