Frostburg, MD - Shirley Lavon Bowser, 87, of Frostburg passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Mountain City Rehab.


Born on Dec. 9, 1938, to the late Helen (Pulahulla) and Alan Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her children, William Charles Davis; and her brother, Jerry Ferguson.


Shirley was a homemaker most of her life and also enjoyed working a few jobs. She was known to be a helping hand at D&S Cleaners, or later in life, behind the deli counter, serving the community with a smile, at Beall's Corner Market. She was loved by many, especially at Mountain City Rehab, where she was nominated as Queen of the City two times.


Mom enjoyed bowling and spending countless hours with her friends at Mountain City Rehab doing crafts and singing karaoke. Her greatest treasure in life was her children and grandchildren.


Surviving are her children, Brenda Chapman and husband Bubby, William G. Davis II, Richard Alan Davis and wife Pam, Cindy Stambaugh and husband Scott; two grandchildren, TJ Lewis and Stacy Rembold; five great-grandchildren; stepson, Robbie Bowser; sister, Mary Margaret Walker; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Justine Nunnery and Helen Spiker.


Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, MD 21532, on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10 a.m.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with officiant Peg Marshall.


Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
