Frostburg, MD - FROSTBURG [mdash] Shirley "Diane" Patterson, 75, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on Sept.13, 2025, surrounded by her loving and devoted husband.

Diane, born on Dec. 11, 1949, to James and Shirley Lemmert in Frostburg, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world.

Diane went on to graduate from Beall High School in 1967. After graduating from high school, Diane went on to cosmetology school, and later ran her own successful salon. She also worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Company and then, later, the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, where she retired.

In high school, Diane met Dennis, and the two were inseparable from that point on. Dennis and Diane were married for over 57 years and had two children, Jill and Amy.

Diane was a dedicated mom to Jill and Amy, raising them to go on to accomplish great things. She was their biggest supporter through high school, attending all of Jill's Drill Team performances and Amy's sporting events. Family came first and was above all else to Diane, a value of togetherness instilled in all those around her. The hole left by Diane's absence is impossible to fill.

Diane was predeceased by her father, James Lemmert, and her mother, Shirley Lemmert. Diane is survived by her husband, Dennis Patterson; daughter, Jill (Patterson) Sibley (Mace Sibley); daughter, Amy Patterson (Lisa Markiewicz); and grandchildren, Luke, Eli, Jenna, Max, and Ben. She is also survived by her brothers, James Lemmert (Lynn), Bruce Lemmert (Inez), Doug Lemmert (Robin), and Rick Lemmert.

Viewing will be at Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services follow at 12 p.m., with Reverend Jim Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Mace Sibley, Lisa Markiewicz, Luke Vinci, Eli Sibley, Jenna Sibley and Benjamin Patterson. Honorary pallbearer is Max Shuman.
