Cumberland, MD - Sylvia Anne (Caucci) Lechman, 87, of Cumberland, Md., passed away March 30, 2026, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab, rejoining her husband only a month after his passing.

Born June 17, 1938, in South Fork, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Bernardo and Maria (Troli) Caucci. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard "Bernie" Lechman; and all of her siblings, including two brothers, Phil and Medio Caucci; four sisters, Mary "Jona" D'Ascendis, Eda Huse, Rose Danel and Tina Bixler.

After graduating from high school, she went to work for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. She worked as a secretary until meeting her husband and devoting herself to making a home for him and her daughters. Sylvia always put others first.

She was a gifted cook and baker. Her craft and artistic abilities will be remembered, especially by the many people that received her hand made greeting cards over their lives.

Surviving her are her daughters, Rosemarie Fitch and her husband Gary, and Julianne Lechman; grandson, Reilly Fitch; many loving nieces and nephews; a very large extended family; and many friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 301 E. Oldtown Road, Cumberland, with Father Mark Carter, OFM, Cap., officiating.

Following the Mass, interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, MD.
