Cumberland, MD - Thara M. Bonebreak, a former resident of Cumberland died at age 105 on April 21, 2025 in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., to where she had moved to a retirement home in 2010. She was born in Altoona, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Wilford L. and Pearle A. Musser.

Thara was preceded in death by her husband, Byron A, Bonebreak, Sr.; her sister, Alicebelle Books; niece, Linda Belle Books of Altoona; and son-in-law, Larry Ouzts of Raleigh, N.C. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Brenda Ouzts; her son, Dr. Byron Bonebreak, Jr. (Kathleen); grandchildren, Kelly Hall, Ashley Kelley (Dale), Dr. David Bonebreak (Camille), Dr. Christina Bonebreak (Robert); nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and nieces, Carole Finn and Anne Moroneso.

Thara was a graduate of Altoona High School and of the Altoona School of Commerce. She worked in the legal department of the National Headquarters of the Armstrong Company in Lancaster, Pa. before her marriage.

Thara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cumberland, Md. She was a Past President and Director of the Women's Civic Club of Cumberland, and a member of the Allegany County Historical Society. In prior years she was active in the Girl Scouts of Cumberland.

Thara enjoyed gardening, reading, playing Rummikub, entertaining, quilting, and volunteering. She lived in Venezuela for 8 years while her husband managed Celanese textile mills there.

Her memorial service will be at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, Md., at 11 a.m. on June 21, 2025, with Reverend Alison Peters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Interment will be in Martinsburg, PA. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Erie, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, Pa. 16505.
