Cumberland, MD - CUMBERLAND [mdash] Thelma Dean Emerick, 70, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Jan. 16, 2026, at the Cumberland Healthcare Center.
She was born July 15, 1955, in Cumberland, to the late John and Thelma (Burgess) Carroll Vanetta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Jack H. Vanetta and Fred Vanetta; and half-brothers, William Carroll Jr. and John Carroll.
Thelma graduated from Fort Hill High School. She was a homemaker and loved bowling. In her later years she enjoyed her time participating in adult daycare.
Thelma is survived by her husband, Neil Emerick; three children; aunt, Jane McClay, and husband, Harold; and her large extended family of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Visitation will be at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, on Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Harold McClay officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Cumberland, MD.
