Thomas Joseph Logsdon, 56, of Berlin, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at home after a battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 8, 1964, in Cumberland, he was the son of Wayne and Darlene (Baker) Logsdon of Ellerslie.
He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Dale Crabtree.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 35 years, the former Laura Crabtree; sons, Joseph and Joshua, both at home; daughter, Shelby, married to Chad Graham, Meyersdale; mother-in-law, Doris Crabtree; sister, Shelly, married to Ronnie Brown; and brother, Michael Logsdon and Lisa.
He was a 1982 graduate of Mount Savage High School, retired from Carpenters Union Local 1024, and was employed by Allegany County, Maryland.
A member of Ellerslie United Methodist Church and Western Maryland Street Rod Association, Tom grew up, made many lifelong friends, went to school and church, and became a volunteer firemen, all in the town of Ellerslie.
Tom then built his home in Corriganville where he raised three children.
In 2010, Tom purchased the farm of his dreams and worked hard as a farmer. Tom loved learning about farming, blue grass music, playing the banjo, tractor pulling with his sons, making apple cider with his daughter and son-in-law, driving, traveling, and taking his family to 48 states.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Tim Vaughn officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin.
"For this one farmer the worries are over, lie down and rest your head, Your time has been and struggles enough, put the tractor in the shed. Years were not easy, many downright hard, but your faith in God transcended, Put away your tools and sleep in peace. The fences have all been mended. You raised a fine family, worked the land well and always followed the Son, Hang up your shovel inside of the barn; your work here on earth is done. A faith few possess led your journey through life, often a jagged and stony way, The sun is setting, the cattle are all bedded, and here now is the end of your day. Your love of God's soil has passed on to your kin; the stories flow like fine wine, Wash off your work boots in the puddle left by blessed rain one final time. You always believed that the good Lord would provide and He always had somehow, Take off your gloves and put them down, no more sweat and worry for you now. Your labor is done, your home now is heaven; no more must you wait, Your legacy lives on, your love of the land, and we will close the gate," by Nancy Kraayenhof.
