Hyndman, PA - HYNDMAN, Pa. [mdash] Vernon C. "Jakie" Emerick, 93, of Hyndman, passed away July 17, 2026. Born June 22, 1933, in Hyndman to the late Clarence and Salome (Clites) Emerick, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Shirley E. (Merkel) Emerick and siblings; Blanche and George Ohler; Eva and Leo Emerick; Annie and Leroy Deneen; Ray and Wilda Emerick; Chester and Doris Emerick; Leo and Deloris Emerick; Lilly and William Ozborne; Curtis and Helen Emerick; Ruby and Johnny Shroyer; and Ilene and Gerald Kennell; son in-law, Johnny Weimer. He was the last living sibling.

Vernon was survived by daughters, Linda and Roy Kennell; Debra Weimer; Nancy and Lenny Emerick; and Kathy and Henry Logsdon; grandchildren, Paul and Michelle Kennell; Nathan Kennell; Ammie McKenzie; Sherry Keller; Jeremiah and Julie Weimer; Crissy Emerick; Aaron and Cindy Emerick; Misty and Victor E. Jr Ludy; Amanda and Steven Matthis; Shawn Logsdon; many great and great great grandchildren.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, hunting, church and music, especially blue grass. He really enjoyed having his daughters over for breakfast every morning.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 22, from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Thursday, July 23, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jason Upton and Pastor Doug Gnagey officiating, at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman PA 15545. Interment will follow at Comps Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to their little angels Misty and Amanda, plus a thank you to UPMC Hospice for their loving care, and Steve Perts for his help and being a great neighbor.
