Centerville, PA - Virgil C. Loar Jr., 85, of Centerville, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at UPMC Western Maryland. He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Loartown, Md., a son of the late Virgil C. Loar Sr. and Madeline (Smith) Cook and husband George.
In 1980, he married Mary L. (Gordon) Loar, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2024. He is survived by two sisters, Sandy Anderson and husband John of Cumberland, Md., and Sue Cook of Rawlings, Md.; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Paul Tew of Centerville; and caregiver and adopted sister, Tina Spano of Rawlings, Md.
Virgil was a member of God's Little Chapel Church in LaVale, Md., where his mother was the minister. He worked at Keyser Refractories until their closing and then worked for Cumberland Valley Township until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
