Frostburg, MD - FROSTBURG [mdash] Virginia Lee (Lewis) Wilson passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at her home.
Virginia was born July 2, 1931, to David and Alice (Shaffer) Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David, James and Roy (Sonny) Lewis; sister, Shirley Osbourne; and great-granddaughter, Tiffany Adams; as well as her husband (high school sweetheart), Edward Thomas, to whom she was married for almost 40 years; and her late husband, Paul Wilson.
After high school Virginia worked at the shirt factory before taking a break to raise her children. In the 1960s, she and Eddie operated the University Snack Bar. She served as Brenda's secretary at Tomco Petroleum and Skidmore Auto Wreckers.
She sold cards at Shaft VFD Bingo for 30 years, and was named Honorary Fireman. She worked with her daughter Cindy at the Frostburg Moose, where she prepared many meals and met many new friends. She traveled across the country with Paul, enjoying their lives.
For the last 16 years she lived with Cindy and husband Nat. They visited Las Vegas, Disney, Oriole Park, an Elton John concert, and her favorite Charlestown Casino. We know the care she received by Cindy and Nat significantly extended her life.
Virginia was known as Nanny and was loved by everyone she met. She will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Skidmore (Tommy); her #1 Eddie Thomas (Vicki); Cindy Dugan Schadt and devoted son-in-law Nat; Beverley Crawford, her weekday caregiver (Joe); and Marsha Eichhorn who called her twice a day to make sure she wasn't doing something she shouldn't. She is also survived by stepsons Dan and Mike Wilson; grandchildren, Tucker Skidmore (Bobbi), Keith Skidmore (Jennifer), Lisa Beardsley (Mike), Lauri Thomas (Pete), Eddie Thomas (Julie), Casey Kuhn (Steve), Joey Crawford (Amanda), David Crawford, Ashley Diehl (Ben) Lisa Pfaff (Ed); and great grandchildren, Luke and Dalton Skidmore; Alex, Josh and Alyssa "Charlie" Skidmore; Tyler (Novalee) and Hunter Crowe (Josh); Madi Garlitz, Kyle & Oliva Beardsley; Steven and Jack Kuhn; and great-great-grandson, Vincent Crowe.
Special thanks to Niece Jen Constantineau for her love and support; and Dawn Wolford and her girls for loving and caring for Nanny for many years; and the staff at Sterling Rehab for the excellent and compassionate care. Also, thanks to granddaughters Lauri and Casey for their care and support; the wonderful staff from hospice care; and her personal secretary Janice Clark who never missed a holiday with flowers and love, and especially her help with final care.
Friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. with Chris Skidmore officiating.
