William Irvin Brenneman Obituary

William Irvin Brenneman, 88, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at UMPC-Western Maryland. Born on Oct. 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Lloyd Franklin and Pearl Clara (Custer) Brenneman.

William was a graduate of Southern High School. He worked as a pipe fitter, tour maintenance, and retired as a machinist from Westvaco Corporation. William was an avid deer hunter and musician from a very early age, and was considered one of the best bass guitarists in the area. He played in several local country bands, most notably with "The Valley Troubadours" with Gene and Joe Winebrenner. And most recently, he played with a group of friends, the "Broken Glass & Rusty Hinges".

William is survived by two sons, David Brenneman, of Bloomington and companion, Harriet Johnson, of Kitzmiller, and Steven Brenneman and wife, Lisa of Oakland; a daughter, Karen Lewis and husband, Dan Griego of New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Wendy Brenneman and husband, John Moorehead of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lauren Lopez and husband, Mike of Utah, Gina Brenneman of Westernport, Britni Beitzel and husband, Scott of Oakland, Shanna McFerren and husband, Trey of Richmond, Va., Mallory Lewis and husband, Manny Lerma of Arizona, and Andrew Griego and wife, Laura of New Mexico; six great-grandchildren, Mica Moorehead, Maymie Lambert, Piper Beitzel, Cole Beitzel, Harper Lewis, and Henry Griego; and his loving companion, Maureen Duncan.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Pearl Beverly Brenneman; a daughter, Dianna Foutz; and two siblings, Doris Harvey and Norma Lee Bernard.

Friends will be received at the C&S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at the Swanton Otterbein Methodist Church, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Roger Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be held in the Lohr Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bloomington Volunteer Fire Departments, 77 North Branch Avenue, Bloomington, MD 21523 and/or the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, 59 Main Street, Westernport, MD 21562. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to both organizations.
