On Aug. 12, 2023, William "Bill" Michael Niland, Sr. passed away peacefully, at the age of 71, in Morgantown, W.Va., with his beloved wife of 46 years, the former Lynn Miller, of Potomac, by his side.

Bill was born in Piedmont, on March 2, 1952, and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1970. He was a gifted basketball player that was part of all-state and all-tournament teams. After high school, Bill was selected into a four year apprenticeship program and went on to be a multi-craft journeyman for MeadWestvaco, in Luke, for over 20 years. He finished his career at Mylan Pharmaceuticals, in Morgantown, at the age of 62.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his son, William (Bill) Niland, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Reston, Va., along with their children, Avery, Cooper, and Liam. He is also lovingly remembered by his son, Robert (Clint) Niland and his wife, Jenna, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., along with their children, Cole, Winston, Briar, and Nash.

Bill's favorite hobbies included reading, sports, and taking care of the stray animals his wife brought home. However, as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, his most enjoyable and treasured time was spent with family.
