William Leonard Platt
Mr. William Leonard Platt, 85, of Paw Paw, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Berkeley Springs Nursing & Rehab Center. Born at Kiefer, Md. Feb. 25, 1934, he was a son of the late Owen Alonza Platt and Mary Emma Carder Platt. He was a graduate of Oldtown High School Class of 1953, and a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Bill did home repairs and renovations, and was a member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and the Harley Bohrer American Legion Post #128 in Paw Paw.
Surviving are one daughter, his companion, Joan Kline Maggio of Paw Paw; three sisters, Nancy Ellen Fortson of Atwater, Calif., Mary Ann Buzzanca of Paw Paw and Josephine Platt Musialowski of Paw Paw; two brothers, Leroy L. Platt (& Jean) of New Carrollton, Md. and Donald M. Platt (& Rosalie) of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 26600 Gorman Road, Oldtown, MD 21555, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor William G. (Barney) Piper officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Kiefer, Maryland.
